Spartans Sweep Cuesta In First Match of the Muscat Era

Women's Volleyball Team Picture

When the Spartans took the floor against the Cuesta College women's volleyball team there were a lot of new faces.  Perhaps the easiest to notice was Coach Chris Muscat who was hired in the spring to lead the women's volleyball program. In just a few short months Muscat was able to successfully recruit eleven new players who would join a few key returners to make up this year's Spartan roster.

What hasn't changed for MiraCosta volleyball is the level of play when the team takes the floor. The Spartans swept Cuesta 3-0 (25-20, 25-10, 25-22) and had strong performances from many on the roster. Shannon Evans, Halie Hess, Ruki Kennedy and Felicity So'oto were among the standouts. Hess and Kennedy both contributed to the potent offensive attach. Evans hit an accurate .444 for the game leading the team to an overall .295.  So'oto anchored the defense averaging four digs per set.

The Spartans are next in action on Friday at Saddleback at 6PM.
