In the first of two cross-over matches played between the PCAC North and the PCAC South, the MiraCosta women's volleyball team earned a significant win over the #19 ranked team in the state, San Diego City College.  City College entered the game with an impressive 20-2 overall record and a share of the PCAC South conference championship, but didn't have enough to contend with the Spartans.  City did manage to win a set over MiraCosta, which was the first set the Spartans have lost in the last 12 matches.

The final scores from the 3-1 Spartan win were 25-11, 24-26, 25-22, and 25-16.  Violeti Faleumu and Claire Kinder both recorded double-doubles.  Hayley Huntsman nearly recorded a triple double with 37 assists, 15 digs and eight kills.  Reilly Bosworth had eight kills and seemed to always score at the most critical points in the match.  Halie Hess and Claudia Mathews had eight and six kills respectively.

MiraCosta will next be in action on Tuesday against Grossmont College in their second cross-over match.
