MiraCosta Beats 6th Ranked College of the Canyons In Four

The  2017 MiraCosta women's volleyball team has been tested.  With arguably one of the most challenging pre-season schedules in the state, the Spartans have taken on ranked opponents in California and some of the top programs in the nation. MiraCosta has had to proove themselves each night and tonight's match versus 6th ranked College of the Canyons was no different.  
 
Canyons entered the match with a record of 8-3 with their only losses to other programs ranked in the top 25 in the state.  The Spartans earned this big win led sophomore setter Hayley Huntsman  with 42 assists and 12 digs. Libero Jazleigh Ortiz had a huge night with 25 digs. Reilly Bosworth led the attack with 19 kills hitting a .310. Claire Kinder supported with a double double, 13 kills and 20 digs. Violeti Faleumu also had a double double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Angela Docena made her impact on the game on the defensive end with nine digs. Sophomore Claudia Mathews added seven kills and seven blocks while Chloe Tripp had five kills and eight blocks. 
 
The win moves the Spartans to 11-6, now with wins against teams ranked in the the state and in the nation.  MiraCosta will return to the court tomorrow against Glendale and East LA at Glendale College.
