Two Goals for Rivera, Spartans Tie Jaguars

MiraCosta soccer player passes to teammate.

On Friday the MiraCosta women's soccer team travelled down to Southwestern College for the PCAC cross-over game. The Jaguars entered the game undefeated and ranked #10 in Southern California but that didn't stop the Spartans from wanting to prove themselves.  Freshman forward Isabella Rivera was the player of the game with two goals which, for much of the second half, gave the Spartans a one goal lead and chance to give Southwestern their first loss of the season.  Unfortunately, late in the game MiraCosta failed to clear the ball and gave up the equalizing goal.

With the tie MiraCosta improves to 5-5-1. The positive result will take the Spartans into the next week with strong momentum as they take on Cuyamaca College at home on Tuesday (3:15pm) and at Imperial Valley on Friday.
