In a tightly contested match the MiraCosta women's soccer team failed to find the equalizing goal after being scored on in the 72nd minute of the game. The Spartans opened up with a strong defensive effort preventing Santa Monica from scoring in the first half. Goalkeeper Precious Garcia contributed to the stellar back line play with three impressive saves late in the half. Despite second half efforts and goal scoring opportunities from Isabella Rivera and Nicole Marcynyszyn, the Spartans dropped the game by a final score of 1-0.
