The Spartan women's soccer team started their game versus Saddleback College with great team play and a strong defense.  MiraCosta's passing was crisp and their defense was aggressive but as the game went on the heat began to take its toll and the Spartans gave up the first goal of the game.  The Spartans had opportunities but couldn't convert the goal.  MiraCosta freshman Isabella Rivera was a high note for the team playing with toughness and great effort.  Rivera controlled the middle and set the tone with a number of physical plays on the ball.  Jenna Heatherly also brough toughness to the field putting pressure on the Guachos on her attacks up front.

Goal keeper Bailee Bolt played in her first game of the season.  Despite giving up two goals Bolt showed her potential and should give the Spartans a solid presence in the goal moving forward.

The women's soccer team next takes the field on Wednesday on the road at Santa Monica College at 1pm.
