Cochran's Scoring Helps MiraCosta In Back to Back Wins

In two non-conference games the MiraCosta women's basketball team got big scoring from sophomore Chynna Cochran.  With Cochran's fire power and strong efforts from other team members the Spartans earned back to back wins, improving their overall record to 6-2.

In the first game MiraCosta beat LA Valley College by a final score of 81-72.  Cochran scored a career high 36 points and made seven three point shots. Julia Iman added an impressive 21 points 14 assists and five rebounds. McKena Stoeff also contributed eight points and five rebounds to lock down the middle.

The Spartans later traveled to nearby Saddleback College as part of the four team classic that was scheduled for November 21 and 22.  In a low scoring match MiraCosta cruised to a 57-33 win over the host Saddleback.  The defense for the Spartans was the difference maker holding the Guachos under 10 points in three out of the four quarters.  MiraCosta was missing leadings scorer Julia Iman, but it wasn't a problem as Chynna Cochran, Savannah Beasley and Emmy Wiemann picked up the slack.

The Spartans are next in action on November 22 against Mt. San Jacinto College. The game is at Saddleback College and tips off at 5PM.
