In back to back games the Spartan women's basketball team has won in convincing fashion. The first of the two wins was against short-handed San Bernardino Valley College by a final score of 81-26. The lopsided win brought a huge effort from the players on the bench led by Aly Murray, who had 15 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Also scoring double digit points off the bench were McKena Stoeff (12), Helena Betancourt (12) and Kiva Reyes (10).
The second win against Imperial Valley College was much closer, but still a dominant performance by the Spartans. After the first quarter MiraCosta led 29-5 and went on to win the game 77-53. All Spartan players scored, led by Chynna Cochran (13) and Julia Iman (11). Britney Jarvis, Victoria Wilson and Aly Murray each added nine points in support.
In addition to leading the team in scoring, Cochran also added seven steals. MiraCosta assisted 18 of the baskets scored, Iman earning eight assists on her own.
MiraCosta will be in action next at Mt. San Jacinto on Friday at 5PM.
