Close Loss Shows Spartans How The Measure Up

Victoria Wilson plays defense.

On Wednesday the MiraCosta women's basketball program took a short drive over to Palomar College for what ended up being a tremendous collegiate basketball game. The game had numerous lead changes but in the final minutes MiraCosta took control and looked to have the win sealed up.  A late error inbounding the ball gave Palomar a glimmer of hope and in that glimmer they made a basket at the buzzer, sending the Spartans home empty handed.

The final score 68-67 gives every indication of how far Coach Kai Harris has brough the MiraCosta program in four year.  Palomar College has been one of a few programs in the state that has set the bar.  With this showing, and their three point loss to Mt. San Jacinto College earlier in the year, the Spartans have proven to themselves and the rest of the CCCAA that they will be a team that will have a chance to make noise late in the year.

Victoria Wilson led all scorers with 22 points.  Brittney Jarvis scored 11 points and Julia Iman and Chynna Cochran both added 10 points.

The rematch will be on Tuesday, February 19th at MiraCosta College at 5PM.
