Ayli Tulberg dribbles the ball towards the basket in a recent game.

Behind 31 points from Ayli Tulberg and another 26 points by Colleen Murphy, both career highs, the MiraCosta College women's basketball team never trailed, and cruised to a 104-51 win over San Bernardino Valley College on Wednesday night.

Tulberg scored at least six points in all four quarters, scored each of the MiraCosta's first six points of the game, and accounted for over half of MiraCosta's 22 first quarter points with 12.  Additionally, she and Murphy combined for 18 points in the first quarter and 34 in the half as Tulberg was already at the 20-point mark.

Other key contributors to the Spartan's highest scoring output of the season included Danielle Bosley with 13 points and Teya Searles with 10.  Additionally, the game marked the second time in a week that all nine players in uniform entered the scoring column for MiraCosta.

The key stretch of the game came early in the second quarter as the Spartans used a 16-0 run to extend the lead to 41-18 and take full control.

In addition to a strong bout of offense that saw MiraCosta score at least 22 points in each quarter, the Spartans were also very effective on the defensive side of the ball as they held San Bernardino to three points in the first five minutes of the second quarter during a pivotal run.  MiraCosta would go on to win the second quarter 32-13, and then kept the Wolverines to only six points in the entire fourth quarter.

With the win MiraCosta continues to improve in every aspect as it picked up its eigth win of the year to move to 8-12 overall and 2-1 in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference - North Division.  San Bernardino fell to 1-16 and 0-2.

Next up, MiraCosta will travel next door to battle rival Palomar College, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 6pm in San Marcos.
