Flurry of Goals Helps Spartans Run Away from Southwestern

After what looked to be an even match in the first 30 minutes the MiraCosta men's soccer team scored a flurry of goals to end the first half and take control of the game.  After 90 minutes the Spartans eventually beat Southwestern by a final score of 4-1. With the win the Spartans improve to 8-3-6 and 6-1-5 in conference play. 

The first goal was scored by Andy Valencia in the 37th minute off a beautiful assist from Omar Diaz. Shortly after in the 41st minute Manuell Kariuki scored off a corner kick by Andrew Kleszewski to increast the lead to 2-0.  After halftime Kleszewski didn't wait long to get back on the board with a goal in the 46th minute.  Evan Aguirre assisted on the third goal. In the final goal in the game Marley Arreola scored off of a pass from Kariuki.

Seth Ketterer continued his stellar play with five impressive saves and allowing only one goal. 

With the win the Spartans inch closer to a conference championship and earning a bid to the state playoffs.  The team in next in action on Tuesday at San Diego City College for a 3PM kickoff.
