Julio Costa runs after the ball in an attempt to score.

Coming into Thursday's match Antelope Valley College had an overall record of 4-1-1 and a top RPI in the state but that wasn't enough to slow down the talented Spartan squad.  MiraCosta took control early and finished with a 3-0 win improving their overall record to 2-2-2.

The first goal was scored by freshman Cole SimesJulio Costa followed Simes with a goal of his own and an emphatic celebration for the sophomore forward from Brazil.  Finally the third goal was scored by Pedro Mercado.  MiraCosta put constant pressure on the Antelope Valley team with a combination of possession of the ball and dyanmic offensive attacks.

As always the defense was anchored by Seth Ketterer, Mauell Kariuki, Fernando Martinez and Marley Arreola.  Ketterer recorded his second shutout of the season.

Up next for the Spartans is a match against Consumnes River College on Sunday, September 22nd. Kickoff is at 10AM at MiraCosta.
