Soccer Kicks Spirit Week Off Strong

The first two events of Spirit Week 2018 at MiraCosta College was the women's soccer game against El Camino College and the men's soccer game against the league leading San Bernardino College.  Spirit Week started off strong with a decisive 2-1 win for the women and a 1-1 result for the men.

In the women's game the first goal was scored by Betsabe Ramirez in the 13th minute, assisted on a crossed ball by Jordan Heatherly.  The second goal was a beautiful shot from Jasmin Tua from well outside of the box.  The offensive attack was organized and confident as the Spartans ran away with the 2-1 win.

In the second game of the double-header the men's team matched up with first place team in the PCAC, San Bernardino Valley College.  The Spartans looked focused from the beginning of the game and never let the intensity drop.  The lone goal for the Spartans was scored by Anthony Cruz but MiraCosta had countless other opportunties to score in the match.  The offensive attach was fueled by sophomores Eddie Franco and Rafael Carneiro with support from freshman Jacob Harris and Julio Costa.

Both teams will play on Friday, with the men on the road and the women at home for a 3PM kickoff.
