After a long drive to Rio Hondo College the Spartans took on the undefeated Roadrunners in a regional non-conference match.  Andrew Clayton started at goalie anchoring the defense for Coach Zimmerman. After giving up a goal in the 18th minute MiraCosta played the host team even for the next 70 minutes.  In the 75th minute the Spartans evened the score at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Rafael Carneiro.  

MiraCosta's play was sharp leading up to the goal and continued after.  A late attack helped the Roadrunners score their second goal in the 90th minute to secure the win and send the Spartans home still looking for their first win. 

The Spartans will next be in action on Tuesday at Orange Coast and Friday at home at 11AM.
