Rocha Scores two and Spartans Handle Imperial Valley College

Men's soccer players on defense.

It was a different setting for the MiraCosta men's soccer team. Due to a scheduling conflict, the Spartans played their home game at the Socal Soccer Complex, a beautiful field just minutes from the MiraCosta campus.  The change of scenery was positive for the team as they controlled the game and walked away with a 4-0 win.

Arturo Rocha got the Spartans started with a goal at the six minute mark.  The first goal was assisted by sophomore Dagoberto Dominguez.  At the 27 minute mark in the first half sophomore forward Luis Mendoza had an advantage up the left sideline and scored to take a 2-0 lead.  Byron Rivera was credited with the assist on Mendoza's goal.  In the second half Arturo Rocha found the back of the net again assisted by Byron Rivera for his second assist of the game.  The final goal was in the 86th minute when Matt Short scored to punctuate the 4-0 win.

Goal keeper Seth Ketterer was strong in the shutout.  His consistent play has been a strength for the Spartans all year.

MiraCosta will continue their conference play on Tuesday October 3rd at Cuyamaca College for a 3pm kickoff.
