Men's Basketball Starts Slow but Heats up for Easy Win

In their second conference game of the year the MiraCosta men's basketball team started slow but eventually found their rhythm and coasted to a 78-38 victory.  With the win MiraCosta improves to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play.

After a slow first few minutes Coach Frazer went to his bench and the energy changed for the better. The Spartans made some fast break baskets and got hot from behind the three point line.  Art Angeles, Jeryn Williams, Marcus Foster and Trent Stechschulte all made three point shots over the forty minute game.  Other standouts for the Spartans include point guard Lamont Couch Jr, who controlled the pace of the game, and Carter Plousha whose energetic play made an impact on both ends.

Sophomore center Donald Smith, although undersized, led the defense while he was on the court taking two charges and showing a high level of awareness. Solid team defense also helped MiraCosta secure the win.  In the second half the visiting Imperial Valley College Arabs scored only 17 points.

The Spartans are next in action on Friday at Cuyamaca College.

MiraCosta will also host the 4th Annual Clete Adelman Classic on January 2-3.  Below is the schedule of games for the tournament.
