Spartans Drop Close Game to Pierce But Redeem Themselves in a Blowout Win Against Barstow

To start off the Third Annual Clete Adelman Men's Basketball Tournament, the team played a tough match agaisnt LA Pierce. The Spartans ended the first game with a close loss, with a final score of 77-71. Freshman Dirk Helaire Jr did what he could, leading MiraCosta in scoring with 17 points. Sophomore Andrew Thomton was the Spartans leading rebounder with 13 rebounds. Ultimatley their efforts were not enough to combat the LA Pierce balanced attack offensively.

After a tough loss on the first day, the Spartans faced off against Barstow for their second game, resulting in a landslide victory (79-48). The Spartans were led by a spectacular passing preformance from sophomore guard Xavier Allison, who finished with 10 assists. The leading scorer for the game was freshman Devyian Roberson who finished with 16 points. The team came out strong in the first half with relentless defense leading to a 41-21 halftime score. MiraCosta continued to get the job done in the second half. Every Spartan player that played, scored.  Thomas Donati and Donald Smith both added 10 points while Connor Ramirez and Marcus Foster contributed nine and eight points respectively.

MiraCosta will face off against Antelope Valley College tomorrow at 2PM in the Consolation Championship.
