On Wednesday the MiraCosta men's basketball team travelled to Santaigo Canyon College for a non-conference game against the Hawks. The Spartans dug a hole for themselves early trailing by 22 at half. After halftime MiraCosta showed improvement but it wasn't enough to overcome the first half deficit, losing by a final score of 100-83.
The Spartans were led in scoring by Devyian Roberson (18 points) and Dirk Helaire Jr (14 points). MiraCosta shot an improved 73% from the free throw line but also committed 21 turnovers which led to easy baskets for the Hawks. Sophomore guard Xavier Allison led the team in rebounds with eight.
MiraCosta will return home for another non-conference game against Orange Coast College on Friday. Tip off is set for 5PM.
