MiraCosta Beats Santa Monica

Xavier Allison, Devyian Roberson

In their final game at the Gregg Anderson Memorial Basketball Tournament at Antelope Valley College the Spartan men's basketball team overcame a talented Santa Monica team for a notable win, 75-73.  The Spartans (5-4), who dropped their first two games of the tournament, were determined to play their best basketball, leading at halftime 40-33.  The Corsairs made a late run that challenged the Spartans but behind 20 points from sophomore guard Xavier Allison, MiraCosta left with the victory.  Despite shooting only 21% from the three point line, the Spartans managed to have four players score in double digits.  Allison led all scorers but Devyian Roberson (16), Andrew Thomton (15) and Mikhail Land (10) all contributed to the win.

One notable statistic is that MiraCosta made more free throws than their opponents shot, the Spartans completing 27-39 and the Corsairs shooting 15-24.

In addition to Allison's 20 points he also led MiraCosta in rebounding (8) and assists (3).

MiraCosta will next be in action on Wednesday December 5th at Santiago Canyon and will be home Friday December 7th at 5PM against Orange Coast.
