Transition Offense Helps Spartans Run Away With The Win

Men's Basketball Player on defense.

In their second week of competition the MiraCosta men's basketball team is still building its identity.  After a 78-51 win over the Cuyamaca College Coyotes the Spartans took a step in the right direction in trying to figure out who they are.  "One of our game goals was to score 30 or more points in offensive transition and we did that," said Coach Patrick Conahan.  The Spartans scored a total of 31 fast break points setting the pace for the game.  MiraCosta was led in scoring by sophomore Cody Hicks (15 points) and sophomore Anthony Jensen (14 Points).  The two veteran guards combined for five made three point shots.

Fowards Tre Morgan and Andrew Thomton provided great energy and a strong presence off the bench, adding a combined 22 points.  Freshman guard Rob Phillips added five points but also made numerous passes to Morgan and Thomton for easy baskets.

MiraCosta improves their record to 2-2 and will host Rio Hondo College on Saturday at 5pm.
